DINA BRODSKY
To view all work available by Dina Brodsky visit artsy. Dina Brodsky was born in Minsk, Belarus in 1981. Educated at the University of Massachusetts and New York Academy of Art, she has taught privately and publicly including at the Metropolitan Museum of Art. Her mysterious and meticulous visions are presented in small and miniature scale, which requires the viewer to step close and hold the paintings in an intimate manner. Her more realistic and observational studies are small jewels. Influences of the Renaissance Old Masters and the Hudson River school are combined with modern tableaus, but what predominates is the odd dream worlds of Brodsky’s own invention. They are haunting evocations of places left behind, of elegant rooms once full of life now given over to nature and memory.
I am fascinated both by the multi-varied, glittering kaleidoscope of the city, and the deteriorating, constantly morphing memories of the things and places left behind.
