The New Yorker describes Scott Redden’s work as: “landscapes with a rare combination of qualities: terse, mysterious, comical.” His deceptively simple paintings are examples of intelligent, brilliantly honed compositions employing crystal sharp and clean coloration. Redden graduated from Syracuse University, studied at the Crawford College of Art and Design in Cork, Ireland, and received his MFA from Hunter College in New York City. He has exhibited with many prestigious galleries including The Dillon Gallery, OK Harris Works of Art and The Woodward Gallery. Scott incorporates both figurative and abstract elements into his modern, idealized Americana. Scott currently lives in Brooklyn, New York while maintaining his painting studio in the Chelsea Art district in Manhattan.
The paintings I have made are an attempt to reacquaint myself with another place, in another time – a more innocent time, perhaps.
